Additional NJ VA Benefits for Veterans in New Jersey
Special programs for New Jersey veterans through the State of New Jersey Department of Military Veterans Affairs. There
are several additional benefits you may be entitled to as a New Jersey veteran. One of these is called the catastrophic
entitlement. If you have 100% VA compensation disability rating and have multiple sclerosis, hemiplegia, blindness, paraplegia,
double amputee, quadriplegia, or osteochodritis then the NJ Department of military and veterans affairs will pay an additional
$750 a year. Even if you do not have one of the above listed medical conditions if you have a 100% war time service-connected
disability or are multiple wartime disabilities totaling 100% and your symptoms are equivalent to one or more of the above
medical conditions you may also be eligible. It is important to note that to be eligible for this benefit your service must
have been during wartime and you must have been a resident of New Jersey at the time you entered service and when applying
for these benefits. This also applies to the surviving spouse of the veteran. New Jersey also has a homeless intervention
program for NJ veterans. This program will assist those who are homeless, involuntary displaced or in imminent danger of losing
their home. If this applies to you you can call 1-609-530-6868. New Jersey veterans may also qualify for the posttraumatic
stress disorder and readjustment counseling. There is also a transportation program for New Jersey veterans. This
program is to help NJ veterans who need transportation to get to VA medical centers, clinics, pharmacies, private physicians,
regional veterans service offices or job offices and other community services in most counties. You should contact a veterans
service officer in your county to explain the details of this program and if you qualify. Along with the above additional
benefits to New Jersey veterans the following educational programs are also available. For more information on the below or
above programs you can contact the benefit hotline at 1-888-8NJ-VETS. New Jersey offers a war orphans tuition assistance
program. There is also a program called POW-MIA tuition benefit program. Additionally there is a veterans tuition credit
program. To summarize, the above programs are specific to New Jersey veterans and there may be additional programs
available to NJ veterans in the areas of housing benefits, financial assistance benefits, employment benefits, education benefits,
New Jersey veteran housing programs and other veteran’s benefits. To view more details about these programs you can
